Hi Melinda, how are you doing. I started on clomid last month but unfortunatley my husband was run down and had an infection. I developed a bad case of thrush and a UTI at the time of my fertile days!!! So it did not work errrrrrrr. Let me know how you get on. Have you tried any other treatment. We have been trying for almost 2 years now and we are getting worried. We will probably try another 2 cycles of clomid and then maybe look into IVF. I am also a fitness freak and try to just stick to my pilates during that period. Its hard to know the right thing to do. If anyone has any advice it would be most appreciated on the IVF situation. Thanks and hope you are successful !! Greggory edited by greggory on 29/06/2012

At this stage, most exercise will be okay. The only thing you should probably be wary of is making sure you don't overheat, so wear cool clothing throughout, take lots of breaks and drink cold water. Keeping your body around your ideal temperature should maximise your chances of fertilisation and implantation and reduce the risk of miscarriage. Ideally you should pace yourself such that your heart rate does not go beyond 140 bpm. If you don't have one already, I suggest you buy yourself a heart rate monitor; it will be invaluable for you throughout your pregnancy (inshallah!), as the 140 bpm rule will apply throughout. Once you progress in your pregnancy and reach month 4, you will then have to apply further limitations on your exercise regimen i.e. don't carry weights more than 25 lb, don't do exercises lying on your back, avoid all abdominal exercises (e.g. crunches etc.), avoid stretching positions that could lead to injuries e.g. the bridge, avoid high impact cardio such as running, and so on.

Hi Melinda, I think people would be afraid to answer this for you in case you go ahead and do the intense exercise and then things dont work out etc. My suggestion would be if you are unsure (and hence asking for others opinions) and a bit worried, then perhaps slow it down a bit this week. I am a exercise nut myself but if I was unsure about anything like this then I'd probably back off for a bit. Trust your gut instinct. All the best!
