Can anyone shed any light on this test, what does it show/prove and how can it be used to help an autistic spectrum child (high functioning)? Have googled but there is a very short explanation on Wiki wondered if anyone could explain in lay terms.

Thanks in advance

http://www.pearsonassessments.com/hai/images/Products/PPVT-III/PPVT-III-Assist.pdf This is a bit long winded so stick with it. You might be better because he has done the test already.

cymraes, has the child involved already been diagnosed as Autistic? I'm no expert, but if the child hasn't been formally diagnosed, it may act as evidence to suggest further diagnosis should take place. If the child has already been diagnosed as autistic, and it was already known that there were no difficulties with language or understanding, I can't really see what new information this has added.

thanks Kavsmum, I'm looking for why they would do it and what's the value of doing it, is it just to test to see what is a base line and what they could use it for, and what the score would tell the therapist. DS had the test this morning and scored 95%, apparently showing a high score for vocab and understanding of language but wondered to what use it would be put. My understanding was that it showed that he had no language difficulties and his language and understanding was very mature. thanks again for your post.
