My Mother in law is here on vacation and wants to sew...could anyone of you guide me how much and where to buy a sewing machine?
We went to carrefour over the weekend and no one was able to help as to which one should be bought and why? Not much of pre sales service, so I dread to think what after sales service they offer!

Any advise will be appreciated, thanks

Classsic Quilts in Jumeirah Plaza are agents for Bernina, Craft Land in Jumeirah Town Centre are agents for Brother, Pfaff and Husqvarna. C4 and Geant sells Brother and Singer. There are shops iin Satwa and Deira selling ohter brand names. I have a small Brother machine I bought at Geant about 3 years ago and it works perfectly.

There is also a shop in Town Center (the one near Mercato). It's called Craft center, it's on the 2nd floor. Heaven for anyone who want's to sew, quilt, do crochet, etc... They sell sewing machines too. They have a good range.

I got mine from C4. A standard Singer one... Inspiration. Like it so far. Has quite a lot of options. Singer is always reliable. Brother is also another good brand. There is another..... Janome... also said to be quite good. If she wants to do standard sewing...... a normal machine with fancy stitch options is good. Standard prices are from Dh 450 - 750. If she wants to do fancier stuff, then you might want to go to CraftLand on JBroad... they have a good pricey selection.
