sniffmonster- so very sorry, but as mentioned this is a rescue being set up for Northern Breed Dogs (eg. Husky, Malamute, etc..). It will hopefully begin along with the new pet travel scheme to the UK, which starts January 1st. I will post again a link to the website, as soon as it is up and running. Thanks ladies!

Hi Ladies. Just to say I think this is an amazing initiative and definitely one I would love to support - I dream of the day I will take my desert dog back to the UK for a run in the country. Although to be fair, I think she will hate the cold and I will have to buy her a coat! On another point, their is a bearded sheep dog in DM at the moment. There is a photo of him on Animal Action Abu-Dhabi facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Animal-Action-Abu-Dhabi/106075079440617 He would be a good contender surely? I would love to take him myself but I have a very young baby and would not feel comfortable taking an unknown dog from the pound. I am very tempted though. Would be great to bring him somewhere where he could actually see some sheep!!!!

Sorry, Greenish, I just replied quickly. tdale, I'm also moving to the UK in January, and hubby and I really want to get a dog. We both have years of experience as dog owners and I'm sure he'd be with me on adopting one of yours. What would be the process for you to send them to London to their new homes? You're in dubai now, but you're opening a shelter in UK? How could I become involved, here in dubai to start out with. Could you post your e-mail so I can contact you? Thanks so much!

Thanks Ladies! Im in the process of opening a small kennel/ shelter in the UK for Northern Breed dogs. So, the idea is to send any northern breed rescue from Dubai to that kennel and then from there off to a good home :) Im currently the owner of 2 Siberians..... and am so sad/ devastated each day i keep them here in Dubai (thank-fully they are moving with me to the UK in a few months time) :) (i rescued one of the 2 while living here) I will post the web address to the rescue site, as soon as it is in working order over the next few months!

I really hope there are NOT breeders here who would breed Huskies or Malamutes. I didn't even see the original post. Just the title of the thread horrified me and drew my (judgemental...lol) opinion. The rescue group is all tdale's work. Not mine. :)

Good one, Greenish. I'd be in on that too. What you could do is adopt them out to people who are going back to colder countries, like UK, northern / eastern Europe, Canada or the US. I'm sure I missed a few countires there, but I think the point is clear. <em>edited by natalie8 on 14/08/2011</em>

Why would you want to raise Huskies or Malamutes here? That's very cruel. They are genetically created for very cold climates.
