Can anyone recommend a very cheap air con service company? Moving to a villa later in the week, landlord has maintenance company but dragging their heels a bit with doing a service before we move in. Seems they'd rather wait until something is an emergency! So can't spend a lot of money on it, mainly just need filters cleaned for efficiency more than anything. Got quotes from JWFI and Howdra and a couple of others, but all came into the thousands :-(
Thanks ladies!

Yes ac has to be maintained by staff who know how to refill gas and replace a compressor etc if it goes warm , but cleaning of the vents etc is a wipe down, cleaning of filters etc on the roof is a job of hosing down lol and u pay a few hundred Dhs to watch someone with a dirty cloth wipe it down. Ducts etc has to be sanitised. A tool time manager actually told my husband how to do it ...our ac never smells etc and we never have any probes with it as we clean alot more than other people. We use to be calling guys out every two months due to smells etc ... I've seen friends house s with their filters up on the Walls full of dust ,yuk that dust is blowing around the room every time they switch it on. how do you sanitse the ducts? are you talking about the spilt system or window ac or central ac?

thanks for the tips, ladies, I think we are going to take the plunge and get a good company come in and do it all first time, and maybe familiarise ourself with everything when it's being done. We've been spoiled because we have such good maintenance in our apartment (got to love Al Futtaim) that we've never had to pay it much attention. The villa we're moving to doesn't seem to have any major problems like smell, and the vents aren't furry (!) I think it's just an older system and it's been switched off and villa empty for a while before we move in, so am doing it for prevention rather than cure, IYSWIM! And I don't yet have any experience of how the villa's maintenance people respond to emergencies... Hoping a good service may alleiviate my son's asthma and coughing, too, which is entirely linked to air con. It feels like a crash course in air con maintenance :-)

Where a bouts are u moving to ? As we live in The villa and our filter that s the only one needs cleaning is on the roof so we do it ourselves just needs hosing down we do it every month. Also then we just wipe down the vents every month as well that's in all the rooms... We have no ducts etc that u normally get in restaurants. Maybe if u get someone to do it tell dh to watch and they will charge a lot for hardly doing anything. We only get people in to re gas etc. Have u tried calling jim LL fix it they are excellent but I think normally they are charge about the same.
