We are going out for dinner for DH's birthday tomorrow and my sitter has fallen through. Anyone know of someone? I'm tempted to phone an agency but am a bit apprehensive as I've never used this service. Any recommendations? I live in Discovery Gardens and it's for my 11 month old son who will probably sleep the entire time.

How sad you think this way. The person is trying . Give the 18 year old a chance, at least she/he is trying to earn an honest days/hours work ! You were 18 once ! You may have a child of your own one day in this position or may already have. LOL !!! it's unfortunate but i wouldn't employ him/her now on principle (but hopefully that's just me lol)..

LOL - maybe you could advertise in the proper places instead of digging up every babysitting thread and pasting the same advert onto it !!

Hi - I am an 18-year-old British student and interested in babysitting to earn some extra money before I head off to University next year. I am reliable and great with kids. I regularly babysit for family and friends so I am willing to provide references if necessary. I am available everyday after school and also at the weekends. If still interested, please contact me on 055 7095 837. Thanks, Charlie.

CABear, I'm off to bed in the next hour so I'll leave you my number in case you need. You can give me a call or send an sms tomorrow if you like. edited by CoffeeGal on 09/10/2011

Hi CABear, I've seen you on the Canadian Moms thread. I'm a Canadian mom-to-be (due April 5th with my first). My DH and I live in The Gardens, just across from you in Discovery. If you're not comfortable with an agency then I can help you out and come over (as a neighbour and one Canadian to another). I'm 37 years old, I worked at nursery YEARS ago in Canada, back when I was young ;-) and I'm trained in first aid including infant CPR. But don't get me wrong, I'm not offering to do this for the money just to help out a fellow Canadian and get to know some neighbours. I'm finishing up my work at the end of October and will be enjoying my free time after that so perhaps we will be able to meet up for walks since you're in the same area?
