Hi Ladies,

I moved to Dubai with my husband a couple of months ago but I am still finding it a little hard to adjust and meet people here. My husband works very long hours so I find myself with alot of alone time, which is nice sometimes but starting to get to me! I would love to get to an EW coffee morning but I work during the week. I was wondering if there are any meet ups arranged later in the day/at weekends? Ay advice much appreciated!

Thanks

welcome to Dubai Claire-R , I work during the week and even though I have lived here for many years I am still looking for meeting new people and new friends. There is a website call internations dot org . It is a professional networking website that arranges many professional networking events every month. I have been to two of the events ,both were at Cavali club and had a great experience. You will get to meet really nice people which will be good for your career and social life .

Yeh great hours but very tiring....? Hope you manage to find something you are interested in.. I hope to be moving over that way soon, so a coffee sometime could be a shout!

Yeah its a really nice place to work and I finish at 3.30 everyday so the hours are pretty good. However as my husband is a chef he mostly works evenings until quite late so I tend to find myself sat at home waiting for him to come home. Yes I live in the marina area also which is very handy as we dont yet have a car here. Other than venturing to the gym in our building every so often im not that sporty im afraid but thank you for the suggestion :-)

Thank you for your replies! I work in a small nursery school in the marina (only 7 members of staff) and have made a few good friends there but most of them have children and therefore are understandably busy during evenings and weekends .I will definately look into those websites though and get hold of a copy of TimeOut :-)

Hi Claire... Yes it is a bit more difficult meeting people if you are working, depending on your company you work for, I was really lucky when I first moved over because the company were quite young and I met a few great people... What area do you work in?

A lot of people make friends through work, so may be there are people at work that you could get to know better :)

Welcome to Dubai Claire. I've not been to any EW coffee mornings myself (my bad) but there are plenty of other organisations that meet up on evenings. Get yourself TimeOut Dubai each week, as it lists meet ups. There is also a website called MeetUps, I think. Also, google Social Circles - I'm sure theres someone on here who can help you further.
