I took my cat to the vet's this morning as she wasn't eating or drinking, and was very quiet and sad. The vet took temperature which was very high, and he suspected an ear infection straight away. Her ears were gunky with black gunk and the vet cleaned her ears out and put drops in.
She's been home since 10am this morning and hasn't seemed any better but after I spoon fed her some water, she was sick twice - once food in it, once watery.
She has to go back to the vet for the second antibiotics shot tomorrow but is there anything I can do in the meantime? I'm really worried about her and the vet I went to is closed now.
She refuses to drink anything at all - let alone eat anything. HELP!
She's a spayed 1-yr old cat who was in very good health until yesterday...

thanks ladies. I did take her back to a different vet (I can file for bankruptcy later, I guess!) who thought something more serious than an ear infection was up. Temperature was still sky high so she gave another antibiotic shot, and an anti inflammatory and suspected some kind of tummy bug as she was yowling when her tummy was being examined. They wanted me to rush over to Umm Sequeim and have her admitted and on a drip but as a precaution, she wasn't in too bad a shape, but worried it might get worse. We opted to take her home as the cost of vet care was going to be 3600 aed for overnight care, and we still wouldn't know what was wrong, so we brought her home and she had a good night and is now eating and drinking again. We syringe fed her some water in the evening, which perked her right up, and she immediately got up and went to her food bowl. She's still quiet but I'm not nearly so worried about her. We're going back to the vet's this afternoon to check how her temperature is doing and see where to go from there. No more vomiting and no other new symptoms of illness, so if the temp has gone down then it will be great news :-)

Can you get her back to the vets any sooner? Better to be safe than sorry if she's getting worse or if she's badly dehydrated. She may need IV fluids until she's stronger. Be careful 'forcing' any water by mouth...if she's so unwell that she can't swallow properly, the water can get to her lungs. I hope she's better soon.

Oh bless the poor thing. Im not an expert by any means but im sure the antibiotics made her feel crappy, and a trip to the vet is always awful for them. leave out some water and maybe some food she loves and let her rest. Dont htink you can do anything. If she keeps vomitting up then maybe a trip back to a different vet but if its only been twice, then maybe she will be ok for the night. xxx
