Since requesting Elife, etisalat have messed us about with installation dates, damaging property, billing, service, been lied to etc. I have logged complaints and sent e-mails to various Customer Service Managers but have got nowhere - does anyone have a number/contact in Etisalat that will get something done? TIA

Tacobelle - wish we hadn't bothered either but thought that getting the whole lot as a package would be easier. We're not bothered about the TV as we get most stuff on DVD and downloads; just handy for news and kids channels and also to have it in the maid's room. Monkeyface - I did go to the service centre and they were the ones that told me to e-mail them! Guess another trip it is to the service centre. I am so cross with them as they told me at the service centre that the package I wanted I couldn't have with e-life and they made me sign for something else and when I got home I checked their website and it says that I can! I just feel like I am constantly chasing my tail with them and it's a waste of time complaining BUT I don't want to pay money for a service that I am not receiving nor that I requested. (Oops - sorry - started to rant!). I have had some issues with Etisalat when I first started a contract, I went to the office in Bur Dubai near Bank Street and they were very helpful.

I had a funny situation with Etisalat... They called my mobile and said 3 years ago we lived in some villa where they installed some equipment. They want it back...:) We moved 3 times ever since and so we had all final bills. The guy was so rude to tell me that they would charge 3,000 aed for this equipment. I have no idea what he was talking about...but told him they definitely come and took everything after we moved out! if this was to do with al shamil ie not elife, they usually install a square dish on top of the roof etc, this is usually the equipment they are wanting back and yes in abu dhabi i know they will charge you 2k for it if you dont let them in to collect. its your responsibility nothing to do with the final bills etc for your telephone etc etc. obviously after 3 years they really should have come for it, i know for a fact in abu dhabi its not etilisat that come for it its another contractor. i know people have not bothered about this when they have moved out and they do run into trouble afterwards.

I feel your pain! It took 6 weeks for Etisalat to connect us in our new house, and the whole situation was dramarama from start to finish. The only way I got it resolved was by going to the main service centre, behind Al Murooj Rotana. There is a manager there called Mr. Salah (sp?) who you can ask to see in person. If he's not there, insist that you need to see a manager. My advice is to be very polite, but firm. Tell him exactly how long you have been waiting, and take printouts of all your correspondance with you, along with all your ID copies. If it's in your DH's name, take his ID copies and his original ID too. I know it sounds bizarre, but this particular man really organized everything for me, and I had people round the same day to fix everything. In the end, we canceled downgraded our Elife package to just phone and internet, and went with OSN for TV, as they are just so much easier to deal with (they connected us on the day of enquiry!) HTH

You just have to keep bugging them, and sorry to be dramatic - but if its not too late I wouldn't get Elife !!! It has been terrible. The internet part is fine, but tv is hopeless. We only got it in November and foolishly expected it to deliver what it said it would which was recorded programmes, catchup tv, pause and rewind live tv, other bells and whistles. I could go on and on about all the problems we have had which include the audio and video not being in synch, no tv guide info available on screen, which added with the wrong times sometimes displayed and no info in local paper or website - you really have absolutely no idea what is going to be on anyway. Whenever I complain, they kindly send someone to replace the box (probably with another disgruntled customer's box) and the whole process starts again.... ANYWAY, we had a lot of delays with installation, and we just kept calling, harassing, taking names and going to the actual offices - they pass the buck and fob you off, but you will get there eventually. I have friends with the cheaper Du and Eitsalat services who get a better service than us.
