My DS is starting nursery school in July and as a new mum I havent got a clue of what to pack in his daily (weekly?) bag. Do I even drop off a bag? I know I have to supply nappies, sudocrem etc and the school will let me know when they need replacing.

I assume I pack an extra set of clothes. What else?

I will supply the school with linen for his camping cot. I assume it's better to leave 2 sets in case of any accidents.

I will express milk for him, and he'll be on solids then (he'll be 6 months when he starts nursery). How do I pack that?

I'm sorry, I'm reading this thread and realize just how dumb I sound!

:(

Any advice greatly appreciated!

thanks ladies, extremely helpful. just another question: so every day i drop off the milk that he would need for that day, or can i leave extra milk in the school's fridge to have a supply there too? (the latter was discussed and the school said it's possible, just wanted to hear your thoughts on it.) tia

Hi Our DS is 5 mths and has been at nursery for 1 mth. Before starting we had a day where we settled in with the carer in charge of the babies room to work out our DS' routine and his sleeping, playing and feeding habits. When going through his routine we worked out any extra things we needed to bring in like a muslim squares which DS likes to sleep with, along with his pacifier, and more recently as he is teething we have bought in a teething ring. So just bring in things that will help your DS be settled in a new environment. Other necessities are 2 x changes of clothes, bibs, nappies, baby wipes, hat (for out doors), linen (as you mentioned), sudocream, vaseline or anything else that you usually use in your routine with your baby. DS is having expressed milk and formula, and he has started solids 2 weeks ago. I put the quantities of his dry cereal (the staff use my Expressed milk and make this up when needed) and veges in the small containers. We are really pleased with our nursery and feel that our DS has come along in the 5 weeks he has been attending. Good luck with it all and hope all goes well :)

I had a good cool bag and packed DD's lunch in that using the same pots as I used at home, they had lids on them. I also packed her cutlery. I used lots of cool packs (Lakeland do some great ones, small but effective) to make sure everything was cool. They did have fridges but I looked at the fact it could be in the cool box for a maximum of 45 mins from me leaving home to it actually getting into the fridge. Do they have lockers at the nursery? I kept a stash of clothes in there for her along with wipes. I used cloth nappies so I brought fresh ones in each day but other parents kept a weeks worth of nappies in the locker.
