Changing table?

I'm a FTM and I've read most of the "must buy/essential list" in this forum. I got almost everything except a changing table. Is it really a necessity? Is it useful for a long period of time? Or should I just buy it secondhand?

TIA

I'm thinking about getting the Gulliver because it's white and it will match the rest of the nursery furniture. Thank you very much ladies. :)

We have the Hensvik changing unit from Ikea (see the link). It saved my back bending down to change DS and has shelves top and bottom, so everything is kept together. DS is almost 14 months now and we're still using it. http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/categories/departments/childrens_ikea/18701/ yes, this is the one i have too, got it with inflatable pad & covers, chip & doing the trick very well. I also have few white boxes hanging on the side for cotton & pampers, so easy. pinkbutterfly, hope you`ll find all you need for your baby! Happy shopping :)

i`ve never regretted that i bought one, its in my bathroom, so everything can be organize there for your convenience. Got mine from Ikea , it was just 99 dhs, nothing expensive. My DD is 3 now, still using it & i think it`ll last for some time.
