Pregnant but no insurance cover

Hi Ladies Thank you for the replies :) I am now 12 weeks, I think I am still going for GMC Ajman. The costs and NICU costs just seem better there. My cousin who lives in RAK gave birth there last month and the baby was in NICU etc and the total cost was still under AED10K, and she said the nursing care and docs were excellent. She had a C-sec. She was given a date for C-sec however her labour pains started and she went there immediately. I am still seeing a private clinic doc, and thinking of going to the Ajman GMC from my 5th month, so then they have all my records etc there. I have PCOS and am taking the baby asprin and duphaston etc. So far its AJman GMC in my mind as I spoke to a coupel of people who went there and it looks positive so far. Thank you all Dear Imamme, what a coincidance .. I am PCOS as well , same meds as you are taking + Metformin as well...would like to discuss more about GMC Ajman with you ... talk soon ... I would avoid Ajman GMC at all costs ! there reputation is very bad - Latifa hospitals and other government hospitals in Dubai are much better albeit a little more expensive. Hi Birchy, thanks for your feedback on GMC Ajman , but can you please explain where did you get or heard about their bad reputation. I am personally concidering it it for delivery , same as Immame, and heard just good reviews (not very many tho as hard to find people on forums who has experinced it) and prices are very acceptable , they have NICU and good care ... but I would like to hear why and where bad reputation is coming from as at the end of the day need to concider all but the best for the baby.thanks Birchy , looking fwd to your reply .... edited by Leodavid84 on 12/09/2013

Oh Leodavid84, Sorry I just saw your question! Aster hospital is a very good hospital but not luxurious at all. It has every necessary thing for you to deliver your baby safe and healthy. Yes Dr. Segal is the best there. Leodavid84 my advice to you is please visit the hospital once to have an idea. Then you can also ask to see the ward. I didn't like the staff much at my first visit to the hospital. But then realized they are really helpful though they don't have that "greeting smile" all the time. One day I went to Med care hospital and when their Gyne saw my cesarean scar(it was an emergency cesarean) she said it is really a nice cut, The doctor has done a great job! :) It was last March and now my baby boy is 18 months old. My advice is to at least get an insurance to cover premature birth, NICU, complications, etc... My friend at least got those things covered when she was pregnant without insurance, and it was really worth it. The baby was born only a few weeks premature and only spent a few days in the incubator, but that alone cost nearly 15,000 AED extra on top of everything. I'd hate to think how much she'd have to pay if the baby needed more treatment or more days in the incubator. Laura do you know which company she got this insurance through? Im in the same situation and it would be a huge weight off my mind. Thanks ADNIC will do this. They will actually insure a woman who is already pregnant - it falls under their "pre-existing conditions" category! sorry to rain on your parade but this is not the case any more - i checked a month ago!

Just did the test at the clinic and I am pregnant! Now..I am a bit messed up in my head as it was so unexpected and just timing wise isn't great..I don't have insurance coverage for maternity....and financially everything is a bit tight....so i am not sure where do I go for antenatal and where do I deliver!! I have heard people tell that Ajman GMC is cheaper, but any reviews? Hi Imamme, hope you are still following your thread... well I have come accross to your tread as noticed you are exploring GMC Ajman hospital for delivery as prices are very important and this hospital is really far cheapest comparing to either government or private hospitals in Dubai. I am myself 14 weeks, high risk but no insurance so looking at the good quality hospital with good NICU but cheap as well . I have called the hospital and they were very kind explaining to me all , you can register with them earliest with 28 weeks . For me the only problem is distance as I live in Dubai (closer to exit for Abu Dhabi) so not sure how would that work if obviously with prenancy you never know when little one decides to come out and distance to hospital is crucial at that point. My obs/gyn that I have ante natal package with has said GMC is good hospital and also recommended Zulekha hospital in Dubai as good one as well. I read loads therads and lot of woman are recomending Latifa as the best specially if NICU needed. Maybe Latifa was the best and actually the only one with NICU best equpped but this days there are so many other hospitals equipped equally good and Latifa is quite expensive this days, no much difference then private hospitals. So I am actually conidering registring with couple of hospitals as they dont require antenetal package just purely registration and accepting antenetal test results from yur private dr you bring .so thinking of registring with GMS Ajman and Zulekha hospital as doeasnt cost anything. any private hospital will be an options ,most of insurances not covering maternity but some does,i know in Al garhoud very good new hospital for this
