After not being able to make calls or send texts from my Etisalat number from more than 10 days and tired of having to deal with their useless costumer service I'm considering a switch to DU, keeping my same 056 number. Has anyone done this? Was it easy? Does DU works well when roaming outside UAE?
Thanks!

Thanks but in the end I got everything sorted by harassing (:O) through social media! In 2014 and for a telecom company there should be no need of going to an office! So next time, just send them Twitters until they react ;) edited by pmd on 25/06/2014

We went to the one in Mirdif I use the big one next to the DIFC, close to Al Murooj Rotana If you go in the morning its always quiet edited by sarahlou123 on 24/06/2014 That sounds like a good location for me, where exactly is that? But it sounds like is an outlet no? I need to go to a business center, which apparently is not the same!!! edited by pmd on 24/06/2014 It is a Business Centre. It is next to the Al Murooj Rotana complex Drive past the Al Maya supermarket which will be on your right At the lights turn left and it is there

I believe that the one in DIFC is a business centre. Perhaps worth a check

Am hearing though that 75% of requests to swap providers get denied. If you can't make & receive calls sounds like a SIM fault - go into a branch and ask them to replace it. It's not a SIM fault, it's because I was out for 3 months!

All their branches are in old Dubai :/ how smart they are! At this point I want to report the company, is there any place to do that?

You've really got to go into one of their branches, but even then don't expect them to get it right. We cancelled our BB contracts back in Feb and we're still getting bills from them :( The telephone and email complaints are absolutely useless.

I am so upset with Etisalat. I have tried that several times but nothing changes. The worst thing is that today I got an sms saying my complaint has been dealt with, so I tried to place a call and I still got the message saying my line was inactive, although I can still receive calls. I called 101 again and they told me I had to visit the closest Etisalat Business Center, which is none as they are all so inconveniently located for me. I said I wanted to get my recharge money back then to switch companies and they told me they cannot give me the money back and I cannot make a transfer to another account because my line is inactive :O

pmd - have you tried taking your SIM and battery out and putting them back in? This sometimes works. You could also try your SIM in a different phone. Had issues with Etisalat myself. Tried to complain, but they couldn't even use their own complaints system <rolls eyes>

Thanks for the feedback! I definitely switch too, cannot deal with Etisalat anymore. 10 days without being able to make calls and counting :(

I have done the switch myself. It's called "number portability" where you can change your subscriber without changing your phone number. You can visit any Du offices or kiosks and they get it done within 24 hours. I visited their main office (head office branch) in Media City and was impressed with the staff & quick service. And trust me, my life is in peace ever since I made this switch. Etisalat was pathetic. No service if you're in elevators, basements, high rises. But Du is completely reliable with great intl. roaming facilities & rates.
