Was driving on trade centre roundabout when someone nudged my car a bit from behind while taking an exit. By the way s/he was honking, it seemed like they thought it was my fault. Either way, there was no place to stop at the roundabout and the other driver had already taken their exit- so I took the next one and stopped to look at the damage and couldn't see any, nor did the other driver show up. Thus I decided to go back home, and I would have reported it to the police had I not been travelling in a few hours time, and had there been any damage at all.

The UAE has very strict laws about driving away after an accident. It's been a week now and I've been abroad since. Do you think I could get jailed for this, even though there was no damage to my car, nor did I technically "Drive off"?

You are not the one to worry. In UAE, always the one hitting from behind is at fault. Thats first point. Secondly, you did stop while the other didn't. DWTC R/A is covered from all sides by cameras. So don't worry. Just keep the details of the event written down as you might, jyst in case, need them later. I would call for advise: Al Ameen Dubai Police service 800 4888 http://www.alameen.ae/en/portal/alameen.aboutus.aspx After this, I drop the event in history :-)

Sometimes when there is no damage( no repair needed or insurance claim needed) in a minor accident both parties can decide not to inform police as there is a 400 Dhs fee/fine for the guilty party. But never the less both parties should have stopped at some safe place to access damage. Unfortunately this hit and drive away does happen here. Unless someone gets hurt or complain, I have not seen any one getting jailed for it.

The car should have followed you and stopped on the side to assess any damage. CCTV in the area will show that you pulled over but they had driven off so you should be ok. Just keep a note of the day/time/details while they are still fresh in your mind.

It sounds like it's the other cars fault as it bumped you from behind. The car most likely drove off as they know it was their fault for bumping you. It seems like a really tiny surface scratch type accident. Usually in that position a phone call to inform the police would have been enough.
