This is to the brunette Mommy in the white Nissan something or other that came out of the Al Waha gate nearest to Al Qudra Rd this morning around 7:15am. I am curious why you would endanger your life, my life and your childs life by turning from the Al Waha entrance in front of a car that clearly did not have its turn signal on? Do you know how close I came to t-boning your car, or rather you came to taking out my whole front end? Do you know how close the car behind me was driving and that we both had to slam on our brakes? Me to avoid killing your kid in the middle seat and the truck behind me to avoid rear ending me.

I hope that you were shaken up but from the look you threw at me it didn't appear so. I would have taken your license plate number and called the police but its hard to get that number when I'm looking into your side passenger seat and not at the front or rear.

You are a selfish driver and mother!! I sure hope that you dropped off your kid in time for school!

Some advice:

Leave earlier for school
don't assume that everyone that drives near your little neighborhood is turning in
when a turn signal is not on assume the driver isn't turning
oh and go back to driving school...you clearly need it!

Yes, I am fuming mad!!! Oh and by the way....in case you're wondering if it was you that pulled this stunt. I am driving a black taho.

We're all fine, thanks, srdoucet. Just a bit shaken up on the day (and DS learnt a few new words from his Dad). I think it's safe to say there are loonies in both Waha and Layan who shouldn't be allowed on the roads! I fail to understand why it's necessary to drive so fast on the road between the two communities but hey-ho, I guess it's the typical Dubai 'The rules don't apply to me' mentality.

Same thing happened to us at the weekend - we came out of Layan, to drive past Al Waha and get onto that road (sorry not sure the name of it, think it's the 611?) ahead. A woman coming out of Al Waha saw us coming but decided she just HAD to pull out, just missing us and no more but only because we had to stop for her. Then she had the cheek to look back at us as if we were in the wrong!! This seems to happen a lot in Dubai though - people just HAVE to get that little bit ahead of you.

As a resident of Layan I would like to point out that there are most definately id**ts coming from both Layan & Waha as experienced myself just yesterday.... I am sure that all communities are the same... some bother for there own and other peoples safety and some are just in too much of a rush to care!! I drive mega distances everyday and would like think that I never find it that imperitive to 'get in front' while 'illegally' having to turn off or onto the bypass or any other turning...

Dubai Cat please tell us that all of you are okay. How awful. I have to say dogcatcher its just as much those in layan as waha. I do the nursery run to the one in Layan so I come out of Waha and then into Layan and more times than not I have ones rushing out of the community and cutting in front of me when I'm ready to turn in. They do this on the side streets in the communities too.

If you come out of Al Waha and turn left to go to Al Qudra Rd (that entrance closest to Al Qudra). That's exactly what happens to us we are driving straight past Al Waha when as you say the ****** turns left in front of us. We don't indicate that we're turning into Al Waha, just driving straight but more often than not the residents coming out think ( or rather don't think ) that we're turning in.

I'm a bit confused about where you mean, but I totally agree there are some loonies out there. We were overtaken - as DH was indicating left for us to go into Al Waha - by some t0sser in a black Prado this afternoon. Had he hit us, he'd have smashed right into our two-week-old DD. As you can imagine, DH had steam coming out of his ears and a few choice words coming out of his mouth!

Black Toyota hey? Hmmmmm!!! LOL! There are drivers everywhere that shouldn't be allowed to drive I just find it so annoying when the Al Waha people (not everyone) just assume as we pass by the entrances that we're automatically turning in. They assume this, make a turn in front and that's when the near misses happen. I'm over my anger but still really annoyed that this happens all the time. It's the Daddies too. We honked at one guy who almost took out our front end and he threw the finger at us. Really? You just about hit me and I'm the bad guy!

I'm an Al Waha mummy but promise I drive a black Toyota! Unfortunately there are a few people driving around who shouldn't be entitled to licenses! :)

bumping this in hope that she reads this and also trying to get the word out to the Al Waha residents that we don't all live there or visit there....just driving by! edited by dogcatcher on 13/11/2011
