Thanks. My husband has viewed a really nice villa in Alma today but I have now read on here that there is potential construction work in Alma?? Is this imminent? Can anyone please give me any more details. Thankyou Yes they are soon going to be building on phase 2 of Alma. We were keen on a purchase there but have decided to hold on. I personally prefer alma becoz of the close proximity to the community centre and entrance as well as the gold course. Atleast then don't have to drive my son up and down to most of the time. Makes a big difference when you have overseas guests and for the maid when you are traveling or for that matter even older kids.

It's opposite the pool but with the road to the golf course behind it. I'm thinking they will use that road as a service road to the construction? How many more houses are they planning to build? Do you know? My husband really liked this house the first he has seen of MANY with a good location, clean, good state of repair and potentially a good landlord. Many thanks for your replies.

Yes you don't want a house facing the sand nr the golf club, as they will be building more houses...

Thanks for your replies. I like the fact that Alma is newer and close to the exit and community facilities. To be close to a pool would be great for the kids but I also have a dog and so wondered if Al Reem would be better located for dog walks. So many factors to try and accommodate. I use to love in alma....the pool is much better than the one in al reem as its newer....there is also a lake at the back that I use to walk my dog around.....and oppisite alma nr saheel gate 4 there is also a nice long walk way to walk dogs. We only moved as we wanted a bigger house.

I live in Al Reem 3 and it only takes me 2 and a half minutes by car to get to the community centre or main gate, so not exactly a far distance. It is walkable in the nice weather to the community centre. I run and I know for example that it is only 2 miles from my house to the golf club, so in theory in good weather even that is walkable. We have a dog and one of the things I like about Al Reem is being able to walk around the lake with her. Also just be aware that there are differences in the layout of the Al Reem and Alma villas, we looked at a 2e in Alma and personally preferred the layout in the 2e in Al Reem. Also there are differences even between the villas from one Al Reem to the next, we were previously in Al Reem 1 and the layout downstairs is completely different to our current villa - even though they are both a 2e. They are also doing building work near to Alma, allegedly it is further villas, which is something to be aware of depending where in Alma the villa is located in relation to the works. edited by Sarah80 on 19/06/2012

Alma is much closer to the shops, so you can even walk or cycle there i(not in the summertime though), whereas All Reem is right down the end. Alma is also quicker to get out of the ranches, which can be slow during rush hour... Also if you were lucky enough to get your kids in to JESS, you could walk from Alma. It's not too noisy to be by any of the Ranches pools and if you've got young kids it's much easier to just live close & walk there, otherwise in summer you will need to get in your car & drive as it's too hot! And I get so sick of getting in my car! Also if you have toddlers, Ranches Moms has a toddler play group at Alma park on Monday mornings in the cooler months. Al Reem has a Buggy Fit fitness group around the fountain in the cooler months. Hope that helps! edited by champagneblonde on 18/06/2012

I'd say Alma because it's newer and closer to the community center.
