We have just moved into our villa this week - it is in Meadows (in case that is relevant). Went to shower my boys on the top floor and the cold water is hotter than the hot water! Even on full-on cold the water was so hot, it was unbearable. I'm a bit pi$$ed I'm paying a premium price for a villa and 3 of the 4 showers are unuseable.

Is this standard operating procedure in summer here or is my villa out of the norm? All our cold water upstairs is affected. Downstairs it is still warm, but not hotter than hot. Just wondering what my chances are of getting the LL to fix it.
Thanks in advance.

Its normal for this part of the world. Good thing is you can switch off you water heaters and save some electricity. Bad thing is you dont have proper cold water. You will get used to it.

Welcome BMAP...so glad you made it here safely and have found a nice home, which will now be even nicer when you aren't scalding yourselves in the shower :)

Berry picking! That sounds divine to me right about now. The humidity here is something to contend with!

Lol! You save on Dewa too! New house is fab thanks for asking. Dh back in Dubai this week! We are off on holiday and then back for the container to arrive so then we will be all settled and ready for the new school. Turn all the water heaters off. Hot water for cold and cold for hot - standard procedure in the summer.

Every summer we have had this issue BMaP. The pipes on the roof or the tank (if exposed outside) get so hot that it heats the water and yes most times it can be hotter than the hot water tap. We have started giving DS (1yr) showers because at least the water is falling from high up so when it gets to his level when sitting in the bath it isn't so hot. We put the plug in so the bath catches the water but it seems to be cooler than just running directly from the bath tap.

Oooh hi just popped on here and see your post! So glad you're there! The water thing is something we all get caught out with I think! Nothing wrong at all and a really simple fix. During the hot summer months your hot water will come out of your cold water tap! You don't need to put your hot water heater on as this becomes your cold water! You will only really need to start heating the water around December and can probably do the switch over again in may.

You live in a desert with temps outside reaching up to 50c at the moment, the water comes from pipes outside your house, water is heated by the outside temp, so unless you have a chiller system in your house especailly for your water supply, this is not a fault on the property but quite usual to have cold water hotter than the hot water in the sumeer. Turn your tap to just let hot, making sure your water heaters are off, and you will find the water that is in the hot water heaters (inside the house) will be cooler than the water coming from outside. If you call your landlord you will give him a chuckle for the day. We live in Meadows too.
