Ok so first time school mum over her with the first bake sale this week? Whats the norm, do I buy stuff to sell or do I make it myself? Am happy to do either, but was wondering what other moms do!

We had one today I did notice "bake sale" was in quotes as a working mum I actually went to Spinneys and bought them much easier for me anyway - I didn't feel guilty about not baking!

Ours is today and I've baked little cupcakes all individually wrapped with a bright ribbon. We usually get lots of homemade thing like cakes, cookies, cake pops, muffins etc. Whatever we don't sell, we give to the cleaning staff, teacher assistants and bus drivers at the school or to the builders across the road or nearby. It's a great fundraiser and one that everyone enjoys. Don't stress too much about what to donate as all contributions are welcomed with open arms. :)

Our school actually specifies homemade. I make cakes because am lazy, though one term I made sweets...which took all day plus some. The committee tends to sort it all into groups so there is a price range of stuff to buy...individual cup cakes through to whole cakes, so everyone from the littlest budget through to mum browsing has an option.

We have these 3 or 4 times a year. Homebaked is best, cupcakes, normal size or mini, with the brightest icing you can manage and little sweeties (like mini Smarties) sprinkled on top go really well. Biscuits tend to be slow movers. Parents love anything with chocolate in them. I also make something healthyish. like fruit loaded flapjacks, carrot/courgette muffins or apple & pineapple muffins as some parents like the option. The best sellers are things are individual sized. Mine is at nursery, don't know if it changes when the children are older.
