Hi, I've got an upcoming bake sale at my son's nursery and I need some help. I'm familiar with bake sales in California where I grew up, but I don't know what kids here are more likely to choose. The nursery has kids from expat (British, French, South African), Pakistani-Indian, and Arab (local, Lebanese) families.

I'm guessing that Rice Krispie treats wouldn't be too popular since they would be so unfamiliar to most kids (apart from the 5 American kids!).

rice krispie treats are loved the world over! the things that go in a heartbeat are chocolate brownies (no nuts), cupcakes with lots of sprinkles, chocolate refridgerator cake (one of my favourites as no baking!!!!), anything with marshmallows on the top! I did camel shaped butter cookies once and they were snapped up! As long as they are sweet and look fun they will go! Good luck and happy baking! Sorry to hijack your thread Apricot. Claire where did you get a camel shaped cutter from? I make cupcakes in ice cream cones (the ones with a flat bases), decorate with icing and sprinkles and there are never any left over. Great for nursery/schools as there are no cases to dispose of. Google it and you will get lots of recipes. <em>edited by MirdifIngrid on 07/11/2012</em>

cookies, the easy way, if you don't know what exactly, pop into any shop, go for the harshy(spl?) chocolate chips, look in the back of the bag, you will find a yummy recipe for chocolate chip cookies

Thanks for all these great ideas, esp since we can't charge too much for each item (the bake sale is aimed more at the kids and will take place between 10 and 2, so parents won't be able to buy).

i recently wrapped up a bake sale at my DD's school... and the Number 1 best seller was JELLO!! I just chilled jello in various colours in clear plastic cups and the kids were all over them in minutes! :)
