Mashreq offers Easy Saver account, no minimum balance or maintenance fee. It also gives interest but no ATM card or cheque book.... Correction. Having called the call center twice to double check and been told that ANYONE can open an easy saver account, we went to the branch to open the account and was turned down because of an "internal policy" which says minimum salary of AED 3000 for housemaids. Unbelievable. edited by Lucy111 on 11/06/2011

I opened an account with NBAD for our maid. It is a lady's savings account. They must have 1,000 to open it initially, but no minimum balance thereafter. No maintenance fees. She has had the account for about a year and a half now. No issues. I took her passport to the bank and did all the paperwork for her. All she had to do was sign the papers, and then be present to receive the mastercard and pin when it was available. Very easy.
