The point Chocs is making is that if you do it here you do so at your own risk (ie the person who does it need not have any training/certification to do it and would not be regulated, so in the event something went wrong there would be no protection). my sis in law hasnt been anywhere except UAE & Saudi so she has no choice! How much do they charge here to do it? I'll start calling a few of the recommended places :) thanks ladies

Body piercing and tattooing (not cosmetic) are actually illegal in Dubai. There used to be one place with a license, but it was withdrawn and they don't issue them anymore. <em>edited by Chocs01 on 22/01/2012</em>

I have had piercing done at SOS Beauty Salon in Town Centre Jumeirah 043491144. The staff were great and I would happily recommend them. It is proper piercing with a needle.

I had mine done years ago - I doubt a pharmacy would do it. It's not like getting your ears pierced where they just use a gun and push a trigger. IMO you need someone specialised to do it. They use a long curved needle. They need some anaesthetic and if they get it wrong, it's crooked which is not a good look. Personally if I was considering it, I'd save it for a trip home or to another more moderate country where you can go to a specialist piercing parlour (yes, they do exist). Just do your research beforehand re feedback, hygene etc.

Given that you have to go to a pharmacy to get your ears pierced, I'm wondering if belly-button piercing is remotely a possibility here? Ya i got mine done back home years ago and now my (local) sis in law is dying for it! I saw they sell the rings in a couple of places but no idea where to get the piercing done. Even back home its always tattoo parlours but i dont think they have those here? :/
