Hi
I'm moving to Dubai this summer and was looking for some advice on bringing our dog also.
Can anyone help with where I need to start on this?
Thanks

I brought my dog from Ireland a few months ago. We just turned up at the cargo section of Abu Dhabi airport and the guys there are just soooo nice and helpful. It took about 2 hours from when she landed to get all the paperwork done etc, we had to wait for a policeman to escort her from one side to another out to us :) They are great in there and make it very easy, few different things to do, counters to go to etc, but they give you step by step instructions on what to do, so it's really easy. I would "presume" they have the same process in Dubai as AD...? If you google something like "shipping company pets" it will give you a list of companies who deal with this. The company I used wasn't an actual pet handler per say, however they did a fantastic job and looked after my pooch leaving Dublin airport. She stayed in Frankfurt animal lounge over night and arrived in Abu Dhabi the next day. I was traumatised and couldn't sleep for 2 nights, but she was grand, not a bother ;) Best of Luck :) edited by Lynny1978 on 24/02/2013

We used two agents, one export agent from Frankfurt and DKC as our import agent in dubai. They were really helpful, kept in touch constantly, helping us with paperwork, answering all our worried questions and I can only recommend them. Their website is really useful, I think it even provides a checklist of documents you need and all dog details that need to be checked. I do remember paying a hefty price for our German agent but I think I remember DKC were quite reasonable. Hope this helps.

Just because the dogs are travelling in the same box does not necessarily mean that the cost is halved. The box (whether for one or two animals) must be big enough for them to lie down, stand up and turn around and if the box is for two, then it must be extra big so that they can both do this.

Hi We are looking to bring 2 dogs (Dachshunds) to Dubai from the UK and have had quotes form 2 firms (Transfur and PetAir) but both of them only seem to handle the export out of the UK, and not the import into Dubai. Does anyone know of a firm that handles the whole process (export and import). I have been told AirPets are good, has anyone used them?? Otherwise, some of you have said you did the process yourselves and saved loads of money. How does this work? Any help will be very much appreciated! Thanks so much

We just did the importing ourselves for our puppy that arrived a few weeks ago, it was very straightforward and cost us less than AED 600. Happy to share the process as it saved us almost AED 2000!

Hi. I have brought two dogs from the uk to Dubai. First time I used DKC and the second time I did all the paperwork myself. Happy to let you know what to do, and I don't charge - it's just quite a difference in costs if you do it yourself and its not difficult.

We used Dubai Kennels and Cattery when we moved our dog here from Australia 4 years ago. Haven't checked their site recently, but when looking into what to do, their site did have info that you could use for moving (I think they even emailed some files to me, if I remember correctly), that gave lots of info on what needed to be done, whether or not you used them.

Urban Tails also do pet relocation. I've just arrived in Oman from Dubai and they were very helpful. We used Dubai Kennel and Cattery to import our dog from Bahrain to Dubai too. Urban Tails is also great for kennels and day care. Good luck
