Hello ladies,

My husband is currently changing jobs and I'd like to make sure I can work when I get my new visa. I can't remember the exact wording on my current visa ( as I don't have it at the moment) but it states I am not eligible to work.

Can anyone shed any light on this please ? Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks.

You can work. The company will give you labor card. Good luck

Yes you can and it's legal. I wonder why they put that on the visa, though when everyone does it anyway. During my medical to renew my Emirates ID I went with the other wives from my husband's company and they're all sponsored by their husbands too. So no worries. My company also knows it, as long as there's a no objection certificate and for freezones they will issue a certificate of non-sponsorship.

Yup I worked on my husbands visa, the company will just give you a labour card. I know it's confusing because my visa also said "Not allowed to work"!

SEY83 is correct however this is incorrect if the job is in DIFC. If it is in DIFC then you must have a DIFC visa

All visas under husband's sponsorship will state something like "housewife - not eligible for work" or something like that. This doesn't mean that you can't work. What happens is your employer has to process a labour card for you, which will require your husband signing a no-objection letter stating that he doesn't not object to you working. Your labour card will then get renewed every three years, each time requiring a signed letter from your husband.
