Just wondering if anyone else living in Barsha 1 is suffering from ants. They're everywhere!!! When we moved in a year ago, we had HUGE black ones, we now have medium and very small ones on our ground floor. They are on the kitchen surfaces, floor, walls and we just cannot seem to get rid of them. The villa is very clean so just do not know what else we can do. Do Pest control companies also deal with ant's?? I read in an old thread that Municipality will also come out and resolve for free...has anyone had a good experience with them?
At my whits end....thanks.

You know what I got that really works? The automatic airfreshner spray thingies, there's a refill in Spinneys made by pifpaf I think. Since I installed it haven't seen one ant!

OP, are the ants that are now bothering you the tiny very pale ones? If so, these are Pharaoh ants and, sadly, are notoriously hard to get rid of! (Google and you'll see what I mean) I've been in a running battle with them for a year now, and I seemed to be winning for a while there, but in the last couple of weeks they seem to have exploded and are now driving me up the wall!! All my foodstuffs are in airtight containers, but even this doesn't stop them sometimes as they're so tiny. Talcum powder, cloves, bay leaves, borax, lavender and bug spray are all useless, as nothing seems to deter them. I've spent hours tracing their paths and then siliconing up the holes, but a day or so later (or sometimes an hour or so!) and they've found a new spot to get through (even coming out of the power sockets). I purchased a huge pile of the green ant baits last week and have placed them strategically around the kitchen, but it doesn't seem to have made a blind bit of difference so far, so the next step is ACE, I think, for the terro gel.

To OP. They are known as Carpenter Ants and they have a nasty bite! I have them outside in the Gardens (Juneirah1) and called the pestcontrol people. They sprayed the whole area and that seemed to work for a short time. They are still there and also creep under our front door and crawl over evrywhere. Not so many now, but just call the professional Pest Control every two weeks and that should do the trick. Good luck.

get the terro gel from ACE and place it liberally everywhere. I had the little s*ds climbing my walls and kitchen counters. They are now GONE from inside from a couple of rounds. I have about 60 anthills in my lawn though *wails

Yes we've done that too. Our kitchen is dotted with white powder everywhere. In fact, we've placed it in some corners of the living room too but like you say, they seems to always find another way in! At least i'm not alone but still don't know if pest control could get rid of the problem. do you think it's worth looking for a 'nest'?? I also tried these gel things that the ants are supposed to like, take the gel stuff back to the nest and its supposed to kill the queen, can't see that it has helped much though!! I've tried looking for nests and there seem to be so many of them that you get one then another will spring up in its place!!!

[b'>Can you see where they are getting in? If so sprinkle talcum powder as they won't cross over it-simple but it works and is harmless to pets etc [/b'> We use the powder that kills ants as we have no pets, but will maybe get talcum powder next time if it works just as well :-)

We live in Al Barsha 2 and have problems with ants, very similar to you especially the kitchen, now matter how many times you wash the surfaces down, they are there. I have tried to find out where they are coming form and put powder on the holes, this does help slightly but they seem to find other places to come in. at the moment all parts of my kitchen are dotted with powder!!
