Hi all who gave me advice on my dilemma concerning my cat!

My cousin who lives in Calgary, Canada has offered to take my furry baby while I am here in Dubai for 2 years since my parents cannot any longer- the cost of shipping him out there from NY is $245 CD, including everything, MUCH more manageable than shipping to Dubai. I'm excited that he will be with family, someone I trust and not strangers, as well as someone who really wants a cat (ie not my parents lol). However she has jokingly stated to not be surprised if she can't give him up in 2 years! =( Is it too much of me to ask that I can take him back when I move back in 2 years? Will he even remember who I am !? If anyone has ever had an arrangement like this, let me know your experience and what you think! IE) Would it be cruel to uproot him again if he was really happy in his new home?

Yay! Perfect solution! How fortunate for you both! As to taking him back in a couple of years ... why not just wait and see how things go? When you do relocate back, go see him, see how he's settled in. You'll know the best decision to make when the time comes. For now ... just ... Yay! He'll be in a loving home w/someone you know! That's a good feeling to live with. I agree great solution, wait until you get back in two years or as my mum used to say " cross that bridge when you come to it ". The main thing is he will be in a loving home with family while you are away. All the best:)

Hey Singingcanary, I wasn't away from my baby girl for that long but it seemed like it. It was only for a few months but she recognized me as soon as I saw her. Also, there was a video about a lion who was brought up from a cub to an adult and then released in the wild, but when his foster parent came to seem him afte rlike 2 years, the lion remembered him instaneously. So have heart, I'm sure he will remember you and how much you love him. :)
