Anyone know of a company that will come to my house and cut my cats' nails?

I've got the scissors and I know it's easy enough, but I just can't bring myself to do it - terrified I'll go too deep :(

Everytime we cut one of our Kitty's nails it's major major drama! Kitty is nasty, bites, scratches, uses her hind legs and I always only end up doing only 1 or 2 nails per time, amidst both me ad DH (who holds her by the scruff) getting bitten, scratched and hair flying all over the place!! But woo hoo DH found a solution, he now uses oven mitts, those big thick ones, carries kitty under her to front legs instead of by the scruff, I pull one of her legs and frantically tries to cut as many as I can and now have graduated from only 1 or 2 per time to at least 3 or 4!!! Kitty meantime tries to bite but cannot because of oven mitts protection and holding her up under her front legs with the oven mitt is more stable then holding her by the scruff!! The other cat is a breeze, snip snip snip all 2 paws no dramas!

Well, I've so far managed to get 3 nails cut on one cat and one nail cut on the other! This could take a while lol! Thanks JS. I'm going to give Tail Waggin a go. Well, that is if they ever answer their mobile phone. A bit worried about the person who comes to the house though - hope the cats behave and don't try to take their arm off :\: They really don't like their nails being cut but it has to be done somehow.

Well I never ever succeeded in cutting my 2 cats' nails. They always moan and moan, try to bite me, scratch me, push my hands with their hind legs and at the end runaway before me cutting one single nail :D I agree with Sue I think they know that I am terrified because I handle their paw and then start thinking and hesitating and I freak out myself :( Now I stopped trying, I just take them to pet shops. Tail Waggin (mobile pet) do the nail trimming for cats, I saw them few days ago near my neighbour's house and I asked them about this specifically. They charge 40dhs for the cat. Pets Habitat in Barsha charges 45dhs per cat but that inlcudes cleaning the ears too. Then there is Snoopy Pets in Barsha and they charge only 25dhs per cat but there is no parking next to them so I don't go there for that reason. Pet Connection got now a groomer so if you feel more comfortabe in taking your cat to a clinic, you may give them a call to check on the price.

If you have an old tea-towel you don't use any more, cut four holes in it roughly where you think legs would go. Stuff one leg in each hole and tie up at the back. I did this once to stop one of mine biting her stitches from surgery and she went as limp as a rag doll! Looked at me like I was murdering her, to be fair, but that was the one and only time I managed to cut her nails. Oh gosh, really? LOL! Wuffles - it's a pair of scissors specially for cutting cats' nails, not ordinary scissors. The problem is more so keeping the cats still when they realise what I'm about to do. Might have to try out DubaiCat's suggestion! There must be a mobile grooming company that would come to my home to do this though? Last resort will be waiting for the DH to get back and we'll do it together. The last time their nails were cut by the vet, it took the vet (a bloke) and my DH to hold each cat still. And they are generally pretty placid cats. They absolutely hate it.

They do get used to it-mine actually spread out their claws to make it easier-seem to enjoy the attention-try doing it when they are relaxed on your lap I just went to get the scissors out, the wee girlie saw them and has taken off at a rate of knots under the dining table :( She's far too wise that one. I'll keep trying. Use nail clippers rather than scissors-it is quicker and easier

well, that's the problem right there lol...you are terrified so she figures you dont know what you are doing so she also figures she is not entrusting her paws to a silly person who is terrified lol

I know, I'm just being a wuss. I should do it, but DH is travelling at the moment and I can't hold them still and cut at the same time. They absolutely hate having it done. Providing you just cut through the clear tips it will be fine-do my cats all the time-even if you err on the side of caution and just take the very tips off you will save the furniture-you'd just need to do it more frequently
