This is a follow on from another thread a poster started "Unbelievable, I am so sad and speechless "

It refers to the child who died after falling from an apartment in the U A E a few days ago.

Very very very sad indeed and amazing the number of people who leave their children alone even westerners who we think in today's world should know better pop to the shop if children asleep.

The police gave them a warning and it appears they had someone to look after the child therefore assuming they did heed the warning but may not have sufficient knowledge to know to keep all windows and doors shut/locked to avoid accidents. Not everyone thinks or understands risks unfortunately.

Education education education, in what ever formate is required will help prevent these children being left alone

.In addition support , be it child care facilities at affordable prices for those that really need them in the area one lives.

Just remember one of these higher profile cases of children left alone when parents were socialising ( not out working)

"The Madeline McCann case". it is also very very very sad.

I learned last summer 2011 there are many many children here left without supervision as parents cannot afford supervision for long holidays and both parents need to work to survive. There is a massive need for cheap affordable summer camps and other holiday camps to keep these children occupied and safer with good adult supervision.

Whatever happened with the Madeline McCann case?

Good post. I agree there are probably thousands of children at risk every day left alone, it is horrifying and unimaginable to those of us who are privileged to be able to afford childcare or nursery schools for little ones. edited by cushion on 05/02/2012
