I went into bank today hoping to increase the credit limit on my local credit card. (Used to be a UK bank name but now taken over). This is simply to make better use of the card for booking flights etc online. We have always paid the full balance each month. However was told that I would have to provide a security cheque for the additional amount which I am not prepared to do.

Is this normal?

Thanks ecochic, I have found some information. I have now approached the bank again and challenged them however they did not come back to me.

Thank you Lousie. Wondered if any other ladies have experienced this. Would also welcome recommendations for excellent banking services, as we are ready for a change.

I have heard that the central bank made this illegal however some banks are still adopting this practice. To be honest if you do not then they probably wont increase the limit
