Hi ladies!

I recently bought a basis cross trainer with the aim to lose around 7 kilos (no specific time frame).

If there are any gym buffs out there please advise me on the minimum amount of minutes or kilometers I should do on it daily with the aim to lose weight?

Thanks in advance
x

now, to make things interesting, look up Tabataprotocol.com the original study and results. I use it, and it works..I do mine on the treadmill rather than the bike but it could be adapted to the elliptical as I am in the process at the moment :)..I have a lung problem and my lung capacity increases measurabley when I use it faithfully...so, your aerobic capacity will increase, metab will increase and you will notice a difference within 2 weeks..but... like everything, ya gotta do it lol.

Losing fat is a simple equation of calories in versus calories out. The amount of calories you burn is dependent on your gender, age, height, weight, amount of muscle and most importantly how hard your heart is beating. No one could really come in here and advise you accurately how long you personally should work out on your cross-trainer in order to lose weight/fat. Recent research has shown the most effective way to lose sub-cutaneous fat is by doing High Impact Interval Training. The added advantage of HIIT is that it elevates your metabolism and burns calories long after you have finished exercising. Forget the "fat burning zone" it is old hat, will take you forever to get any decent results and will not improve your cardiovascular fitness significantly in the meantime. As Nutty said - go buy yourself a HR Monitor. Simply wearing it and getting the bio-feedback will become a motivation in itself. Secondly, google high impact interval training so you can understand how it works. Good luck.

Buy a heart rate monitor (100aed) and aim to keep in the fat loss range ( google your height, weight and build to findout what this is for you) any slower and willnot work, any faster and then your body will switch to training/cardio and your fitness will improve but may not see the results you seek.
