Can't wait to see what all this unrest is going to do to my already completely exhorbitant DEWA bill.

Jazmu121, would it be worth it if you were a tenant, do you think? And what's it like looking outside, particularly in winter - I presume you get a dark view of everything?

Nearly just had a heart attack since as I was writing this, I found my housekeeper in the back washing the patio! I have warned her again not to be proactive and anyways, no longer need her because it is cheaper to send the clothes out for dry cleaning. Sounds like you just found a way to stick it to dewa.. hahaha.. Eliminating the water and electricity useage will definately put a damper on their pocket book.. :D Now to eliminate the sewer and garbage fee... hmmmmm And housing fee ... which is a tax if I've ever seen one. Yep. Someones got to pay those free electric bills for others.. :D I knew I should have married an Emirati. :\:

Guess you haven't paid the meter reader fee.. :D They don't check the meters every month. That's why we get these odd low bills one month then they wham bam you the next month because the man came to read the meter. If you call them they will come read the meter and you will get a large large bill. If you don't call them, they will eventually come and read the meter and your will get an even larger bill edited by bornconfused on 07/03/2011

Now this is really odd, I have just been out and read my water meter and it's the same reading as it was 2 months ago - I promise we have been showering/laundering clothes/watering the garden. Not what the h*ck should I do? How big is my conscience? Do I call DEWA and tell them? My DH is currently dancing round his office!!

Also may as well impose no dish washing for a month, no mopping or cleaning.. Heck the kids will be thrilled that there are no more chores and they don't have to keep their rooms clean.. :D

Yes, good ideas, Bornconfused. If I fire the gardener, we'll save there too, and my kids will be pleased with their lack of baths and new sandpit in the back.

Sadly our electric part is lower than our water. Guess we should impose no showering except once a week. And laundry can only be washed once a month.. :D

I have a dilemma too, our latest DEWA bill is the lowest we have ever had.....but it looks like an estimated bill as the figures are too rounded. I am trying to decide if I overpay it and then it'll compensate for the next bill we receive which is bound to be enormous!

I'm going to impose a no-electricity use for my house until dark. No matter that my house was built in such a way that there is no breeze whatsoever even with every window open, I'm banning air conditioning completely.

Then you need to worry about the misc charge, the the meter reading charge, and forget what the other BS charge was that we had on ours.
