I heard recently that charges for water and electricity are higher between 12 noon and 5pm. Has anyone else heard this? Useful to know as it would impact on when to use the washing machine, dishwasher, etc.

No but if you stop doing things like watering the garden during peak hours, you're conserving water as about 30 - 40% of it just evaporates!

Dewa wants to reduce the pressure on the elecricity grid during peak hours so by using washing machine, dryer, electric oven off peak time they can acheive it. Are we going pay less ? there is nothing that says it, so no ladies it will make no difference to our DEWA bill:(

OK, that makes sense. Now how do I explain this to the gardener, who always ricks up at about 2pm and turns the hoses on?

This is true in France where I lived. Water consumption was higher during the day so I constantly had the washing machine and dryer on late at night. Not sure whether it is true here though

I was told that as well by my sister! So I never put the washing machine or dryer on during those times.
