I have received via email my final DEWA bill. I intend settling this on line as normal, but how do I then get my deposit money back? Thanks

I'm still not clear! So I go to the DEWA office to request a final bill, how long does it take for them to a) disconnect and b) have the final bill ready for me?

Sorry for the complete newbie question, but I have just moved into a house belonging to a colleague. They have moved back to the UK. The tenancy has just been redone in my name and I am in the process of changing everything else over. The DEWA bill is still in their name. Can I have in changed into my name, or do they have to let DEWA know they have left and me get it reconnected? As they are now back in the UK is this going to be a problem? :-S

Im about to go through this whole process (only to move into the flat across the hall!). Can someone please tell me what day I should request the Final Bill? Our final lease day and walk through is on 24 July in the afternoon. Am I to go to DEWA that morning then for final bill? I stopped by today and the guy told me something about 2 days prior but the information wasnt clear (despite several follow up questions!). Any step by step and timeline help would be much appreciated! :) If you would like to present your DEWA final bill receipt at the time of this move out inspection, you will need to request for disconnection 48 hours before and settle the final bill so you can present it. Unless you are planning to be in your apartment up until the move out inspection, then you might want to wait until the day you move out, and submit the receipt later for your security deposit refund. Good luck with your move.

DOnt need a recipet - they know :) That's a change of policy, then. When we set up our first DEWA account we were told in no uncertain terms that we had to keep the original deposit receipt safe because the deposit would only be refunded upon presentation of it. DEWA obviously have a record of you having paid the deposit, but it was company policy that they wouldn't refund without the receipt.

I went to DEWA office in JAFZ, very nice and efficient, took hard copy of final bill, copy of passport and visa. I handed over cash to settle final bill but they said I didn't need it, they just deducted this amount from the deposit. So they paid me balance in cash. They didn't ask for receipt of deposit, visa and passport is enough.

It obviously depends on how much you still owe, but my deposit has always been automatically deducted from the outstanding balance whenever I've done it in the past. Not sure I've ever done it online though. Always had a deposit receipt but never actually needed it.

You have to take your original deposit receipt into a DEWA service centre. Now you've made me think. I haven't a clue where mine is :( I lost mine a few years back and they had it on record Thanks for letting me know. Why am I so disorganised out here. Back in the UK I knew where everything like this was. I shove everything in a file. It is fit to burst now ha I really should buy a file, everything is shoved in my bedside cabinet drawer.
