Sounds like he could benefit from an all around checkup after the eye doctor - if he won't do it for himself, he should do it for you (and your family if you have one).
Thanks ladies. Have booked appt with Moorfields eye hospital and am hoping he doesnt end up as blind Carlos! (soz have been watching WAY too much Desperate Housewives lately ;))
Mom completely lost sight in one eye, then it moved to the other or something like that for a few minutes. Eventually diagnosed as a blod clot pressing on a relevant nerve. She was put on asprin. She's been fine since, except one re-occurence.
Get him down to Moorfields asap. You're worrying yourself silly over something that might be nothing and if it is something then let the experts diagnose him.
I have found them to be brilliant and if it turns out to be something that he needs to have seen by another specialist, they'll let him know.
I don't have any advice on how to deal with it. But just wanted to say I suffer from migraines that give me varying degrees of visual disturbances, that come on and go away like you describe, so it 'could' be something like that also - obviously they aren't great, but also probably not as bad as other options possibly going on in your head.
Sounds like you are doing the right thing, and have a compliant patient which is unusual! Good luck!

A good ophthalmology will also check blood sugar levels and do blood work to rule out other nasties.
Ophthalmologist should be the first port of call - try Moorefields Eye hospital.
I wondered if they would rule out other conditions or just look at eye alone. Of course they are doctors though so makes sense. Have heard about Moorefields, will look into it. Thanks Izzy.

Before I begin let me state that I know the opinions of those on the EW forum should not replace the opinions of a trained doctor! However before I work myself into a crazed googling frenzy I just wanted to see if anyone could shed any light on my DH’s health issues before selecting and seeing a suitable doctor!
Hubby complained last week about a black spot creeping in over his eye and causing fuzziness and then he said his sight in one eye went almost completely before returning soon after, then the other eye, similar black spots that came and went throughout the day. I am worried because he suggested that he should see a doctor and normally he would have to be dragged to the doc kicking and screaming! So the mere mention of it got my alarm bells ringing. I thought maybe this condition was due to over exposure on laptop, as he spends sometimes up to 16 hours a day on it and his eyes are under considerable strain. Maybe he needs glasses or maybe it’s just ‘floaters’ in his eye which may not be serious. Either way I think a visit to an Ophthalmologist is in order.
In saying that though, I worry if he sees an Ophthalmologist that another more serious health issue may be overlooked as I worry this eye symptom is just one symptom of many that have been accumulating. I wonder if his eye fuzziness and lack of concentration is due to severe stress and an over stimulated mind, as he is under a lot of strain with work and is finding it hard to relax and get to sleep of an evening. He is generally tired and not feeling 100% healthy and I wonder if it could be something like adrenal failure/exhaustion or diabetes even. In any case, he is heading for a bit of a breakdown I worry and without wanting to self diagnose, I wonder if a visit to an eye specialist alone would be best or if should go broader and see a GP, another specialist or even a naturopath to find ways to deal with big picture and overall exhaustion which this may be related to. Who knows, maybe even a meditation class! (fat chance of me getting him to one but here’s hoping!) Does anyone have similar experiences to share or recommendations to put him on the right path to recovery? Thanks ladies!
