Hi,

My visa will be cancelled shortly due to redundancy and I was wondering if anyone has any dealings with ENBD and freezing accounts? If so, how long did it take to sort out and unfreeze the account?

Thanks.

the banks will only freeze your account on notification from your employer that you will be leaving their employ. ie. no notification, no knowledge, no freezing.

If you're planning to stay in Dubai they may not unfreeze it until you can take in a salary certificate from your new job. Otherwise, I think you can draw money from a frozen account by going into a branch and doing it over the counter, but I'm not 100% on that.

I do have a small loan which my balance can cover. I'm just hoping its not going to take long time to sort out as I need to travel soon. Would love to hear from anyone who has tips on the quickest way to resolve it. edited by Abi300376 on 29/03/2011

Isn't there a window between leaving your job and the bank realizing it and freezing your account, where you can withdraw most of your cash, bar the minimum required to keep the account open? Also, is it possible to ask for your last salary payment to be in cash or a cashable cheque, rather than a deposit/transfer into your local bank account?

Banks here usually freeze accounts whether or not you have money owing - freeze first, ask questions later.

Yes they do unfortunately, my DHs was frozen when he left his job a while back, he did however have outstanding debts owing. It was unfrozen once he was emplyed again, which took about 2 months. Lets hope that if you dont have outstanding debts and that they dont freeze your acc.
