This morning..I getting off Emirates Road going towards Al Ain my back tyre exploded. I was going at about 100km/h. I managed to control the car and park on the emergency road. While trying to contact a colleague to come and help a Dubai police rescue car arrived, 2 young nationals came out and pulled out some sophisticated equipment and within 10 mns I was good to go. They were very polite and efficient.:)

A few months back my tire went flat on my car, I had several men pull over to help me. Restored my faith in man kind.. :) this happened to me too. but the only man who stopped was a pakistani driver (i asked where he was from) and i've sung his praises ever since.

I got a puncture on Al Khail a couple of years back and two lovely police officers stopped and changed my wheel! Wouldn't happen in England, they would drive by laughing. Errrrr no they wouldn't. I've had police in the uk help me change a tyre, they said they'd rather help than leave me waiting for the RAC in a secluded area. Also had police wait with DD not long after passed her test she'd had a fright/incident and couldn't continue, so he waited with her till we could get to her. edited by Dally on 10/04/2011

Have had a few good experiences over the years myself. Can't say the same for Sharjah police or emergency services.

I agree, the police here is helpful even off the road! A friend was at a cricket match and got a bad headache. He didn't have any aspirin so he went outside the gates thinking he should just go home. The police came up and asked what the matter was, he told them and they gave him the medicine and a bottle of water!

Yay! Glad to hear you're OK. Must have been super scary. I have similarly good things to say about the emergency services in Fujairah. We had a house fire which ended up not serious but was seriously scary with lots of flames and which could have been worse were it not for the fact that the civil defence were at our house within minutes.
