Don't think they will reverse it though but they said they will file a case now and I forwarded the no. of the caller. Hope they won't get another victim... You must inform the police and Du this is a very common scam and many have been caught out, I have a dear friend who fell for this for a lot more than you! It was unbelievable, but her's was with the other supplier and they had her personal details. The police take it very seriously. I have informed Du about it and waiting for their feedback. They should've filed for a case now.

I've never heard of them asking people to go and buy credit before though. Normally they ask for the number on your SIM card, which FYI is the same on ALL SIM cards. I feel really sorry for the OP, as it must be awful. But I guess you live and learn. But no one is ever going to ask for your bank details, to send them credit etc if you've 'won' something.

Then he asked for my account no. and he then told me I've won 200,000dhs from duty free and I have to process 1,500dhs of recharge card to claim it... I hate being new to Dubai... :( i dont think that's being new to Dubai, that's just being .......... AprilD Or April[b'>F[/b'>

The OP made a mistake - ok, so a silly one, but why is everyone "giggling" at her ?? How easy do you suppose it was for her to come on here and admit to it ? But she did so purely to help prevent anyone else falling into the same trap ... And at the same time, another poster (one of the "gigglers", no less) makes an equally brave admission that she is suffering a mental illness and receives nothing but support ... How fair is that ?? Am not giggling just totally gobsmacked !!!

to Everyone thumbing me down please take no offense. Its unbelievable for me that someone in their senses would actually fall for such scam. That too in Dubai? I hope OP is not trolling. I also find it amazing. Is this pin like the scratch off thing on a pre paid card? What a count number did she give him? I am truly find this story weird.

I have had a string of the Microsoft calls lately, they are getting very inventive with the caller ID numbers so most of time I land up answering. Hanging up is not a option as they just try later. So have resurrected an old trick......once they start giving me the spiel I grab my whistle and let rip......haven't had a call for some time now....

What is a pin number? The "secret number" you tap in to an ATM or card machine. PIN stands for Personal Identification Number, so saying "PIN number" is actually redundant - you're saying "Personal Identification Number number" :) Yes I know what it is for an ATM, but why is it useful for the guy when she gave it to him over the phone? Isn't it a bank matter then and not a Du matter? Am I losing it? Why would anyone give any details over the phone to someone anyway? Oh...this is taxing. As I get it, OP is talking about pre paid recharge card. She's calling the secret number as PIN.

Come on Izzy - the OP is feeling bad enough - don't rub her nose in it. OP - Sorry that you fell for this. It is a well known scam that has different versions in many countries and many victims. That is why it is still perpetuated as it works as there are still many who are unsuspecting and have not heard of this before.
