Hi, I just posted something similar on another thread about my DD. We got her retested a few months after she did the IngeniousEd. intervention programme and she no longer met the criteria for dyslexia. We did the test at the same place in the UK and they didn't have to do the full tests again, just separate sections and it was much cheaper. But I still keep her enrolled once a week with IngeniousEd. just to keep her motivated and monitored because I'm not sure that they give her the right kinds of reading books at school. It seems that they just have parents monitoring the kids reading over there. With IngeniousEd. it is a short-term programme. They are specialist consultants, fully qualified. I paid 300 Dhs. for an hour session which is well worth it. And they communicate with the school at for no extra fee.

Hi, the going rate for a fully qualified, experienced and well resourced tutor is 350 to 400 AED per hour. This is the same rate pro rata for children attending support within some of the schools. Just make sure you ask to see a copy of the tutors attested qualification to ensure that it is the full qualification and not just some of the units. It is a lot of money to pay if they don't have this and this could be why you have been offered the reduction. I hope I am wrong, but worth checking it out, just for your piece of mind. edited by thoughtful on 12/11/2013

Have you tried brain training instead of a dyslexia tutor. I know others have said this before by I know the hourly rate was much lower than what you say and they work to rewire the brain as opposed to just give strategies for coping. Give them a call 04-4534170. At those costs I think you should at least explore alternatives!

Hey, thank you so much for all your help. The information you shared is definitely helpful but unfortunately it will not be of much help as I am looking for a private tutor, who is actively working on dyslexia and is certified. I do know of a lady that is qualified but don't want to post her details here, do you have a contact and I will drop you a line?

Karin Shields works at the center full time so I doubt she will be doing private tuition. She does individual and group lessons depending on the child needs. You need to book via the main number They will give you the pricing structure. We used Karin when she worked at the Dubai Community Health and she was fantastic.

Thank you for responding. Do they provide private tuition ? and how much would a private tutor cost. I have been told that dyslexic children require individual attention.
