U r not alone for sure...having ballooned from size 6 to Size 16...its been crazy with infertility treatments and hormones and wat not...weight was not a concern with me as long as I was not down with any ailment. But wght comes with heavy cost...sooner or later...got severe back and knee issues wch simply boil down to bng over wght! For health reasons am back to watching wat I eat and not resorting to binge eating more often cause Dubai social life is worst if u want to loose wght!! wishing u happiness and healthy life irrespective of your size!

Muminserach you are so not alone.. been a plus size all my life have tried all sorts of diets and the only 1 that worked for me was Weight Watchers.. and the key factor was going to meetings every week because u cant lie to the scales in your meeting.. doing it online u can add or take off a few lbs but in the meeting that is it.. i lost over 2 stone of course it all went back when i came out here and there was no ww... im now pregnant on my 2nd baby healthy wise yes i do need to loose weight and once this baby comes along i will try again but you need to find a reason for your self. and if your happy the way you are then so be it... good luck with whatever you decide. x

I have always been careful of my weight and have felt 'fat' despite being a size 12 at my biggest! It's crazy that it has eaten up (pardon the pun) so much time and energy from my life. I have dieted this year and am now at my lowest weight but have to exercise a lot to maintain it and to be honest it's not that much fun! However, I look at my sister who is beautiful and a plus size and after having struggled with her weight and worried for years embraced her curves and beauty and just got on with life. She jokingly calls me 'fatty' in a very playful way as she thinks I'm crazy! Ironically, when she stopped watching everything that went in her mouth or worrying about not excercising enough the weight is gradually coming off but what I am trying to say is that either way she is so glamorous and gorgeous and a lot less uptight about things than I am. My husband actually likes me with a little more meat and even asked me not to exercise last night. He made a good point about the food/exercise focus actually becoming a little bit of a 'bore' and restricting a lot of what we do! Having read 3 facebook posts already this morning with status updates about diets etc I know what he meant - it's boring and so much life is wasted obsessing about food and planning social lives around exercise (although granted some people DO enjoy it and it is a social element for them - just not for us) instead of enjoying life and living!! I'm not advocating an unhealthy lifestyle but I am saying that life is too short to be worrying about weight instead of living life to the full. Just try and eat healthily and become a little more active and if it works for you great! I cannot agree more with worried 123 who says her weight isnt who she is! Good Luck - I'm sure you're gorgeous inside and out either way!

I personally think it's not about acceptance- it's about being happy with who you are. I have been a plus size all my life, and finally decided that I didn't like how I looked, and decided to change it. I'm now 16 kilos down. I'm not what I want to be, but I'm happier. But I always remember, my weight isn't who I am.

Hi muminsearch, I have struggled with my weight since forever-and its made me bitterly unhappy for most of my adult life (and teens). Then earlier this year a reasonably new friend picked up on it and said something that has changed my life. I'm a UK size 16- 18, 5'6 tall btw. She pointed out to me that actually I'm beautiful, whether I'm fat or thin I'm attractive, and you know what and I don't mean to sound conceited but I started looking differently at myself since then and rather than seeing the fat blog with spare types I now see a voluptuous woman who can be sexy if she wants to be. She had noticed how I find it impossible to accept a compliment and actually when we sat down and talked about it i realised Im carrying the baggage from my younger years which actually are completely irrelevant to my life now. Stop looking at the mirror for flaws and in stead look at what you have got. Since the converstation I had with her I've actually dropped quite a bit of weight without even trying, I no longer comfort eat and its completely changed my eating habits and yes I feel better for but you know what, at the end of the day I really don't care anymore. I'm completely comfortable with who I am and since then I have learnt to take a compliment and have received loads more as i'm carrying myself completely differently. And you know what- plenty of men love it- i've had more attention since then than I can remember as I'm confident and confidence is attractive :-) Life is too short to spend it wishing you were something different. make the most of the curves lady!

I don't think you're alone. I am certainly obese in every sense of the world and although sometimes I think it might be fun to be skinny, I've never had enough inspiration to lose weight because I look in the mirror and like what i see. I say embrace it until you don't like it anymore. Obviously for health reasons you can't let your body get too out of control, but i say to **** with trying to fit into a certain size. Love what you have and check out New Look; They have some really cute plus size tops right now. =)

I'm sort of the opposite - in my late 30's, always been skinny, but the past few years, I've gotten, well - fat. I never thought I would, I'm pretty active and never used to eat so badly. I used to think being fat was the end of the world, but in truth, I'm not that bothered by it. I suppose at some different point in my life I'll probably be more active and have less time to eat, but for now, I'm content being fat!

I guess you really have to do some soul searching for this one. I think that if you have to ask this on a forum, it probably means that you are looking for some justification to tell you that it IS OK to be overweight and be happy with it. I have no clue about your size, but if you have to search for justification, then you probably think it is NOT the right thing deep down... I know it is hard, really hard and a constant daily battle with weight. I think that if you were truly OK with this, then you never would have written this post. Take a look at dubai diet club on face book if you would like some support with bunch of us who feel just the same as you do...

Not thinking about diets, weight or food full stop may be a good thing in the long run and actually help with weight loss. We always think about and focus on what we are not supposed to be eating. If you just eat what you want and stop when you've had enough, favourite and banned foods might lose some of their appeal and it might work to your advantage in the long run. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

I'm in that position but I couldn't just throw my hands up and accept it, I really want to get the weight off and change my health.... it depends on how overweight you are but I personally feel I need to lose it to keep my health.

I had the same thoughts as you but decided to join good habits 8 weeks ago and i have lost 17 pounds so far, went shopping today and i am feeling amazing. Working out and eating healthy, its changed my life this last few weeks. I understand how you feel, if you are happy and healthy why change? I wanted to do it for myself no one else.

Has anyone in their 30s, who has been over weight almost all their life and tried and tired all avenues of weightloss, decided to make their peace with it and give up all efforts and just live as a plus size girl and enjoy life? I am about to get there! Wondering if I am mad or if there are any others who have finally gotten to this point like me!!!
