I understand the place to go is Dubai Podiatry Centre but insurance will not cover it. Anyone been to them? What kind of total expense can I expect and what will they offer in terms of treatment? many thanks.

You don't necessarily need insoles if it's fallen arches you're concerned about. For day to day wear there are shoes with appropriate arch / ball of foot / heel support built in - fitflops, crock flipflops and for smarter wear there are several makes. There is a shop at the Outlet Mall - K Corner or something like that. thanks...will look for them i forgot to include Birkenstocks - also excellent for support in all the right places.

Hi: Dubai Bone and Joint Center in Healthcare City has a dedicated podiatry division - you can check out their website or call them on 04-4231400. Good luck!

... I had 10 broken toes so it took me a year to learn to walk again. ... OUCH!! I hope you've fully recovered! yep, this was 5 years ago. Because my arches collapsed it caused my toes to bend under my feet totally, hence why I had the operation. all good now!

I ahd my insoles made in the UK too, and they were pricey - can't remember how much but I remember thinking argghh. But they are worth it if you wear them a lot. As previous post says they are restrictive when it comes to what you can wear them with - I used the all the time in the UK but find it harder here as I like in sandals - so now I have a lot of ankle pain as a result. Asics trainers are the best if you have flat feet.

I paid around 350 GBP for mine but this was in the UK. They are expensive as they have to make plaster molds of your feet. I dont use mine anymore though as its very restrictive in terms of what shoes you can wear. They have to be flat slip on shoes and thats about it. I was told by the physio therapist who worked with the surgeon after my operation that wearing shoes with a heel is good because it takes the shape of the arch. Wearing flip flops are not good for you because there is no support on your arch and you grip the front of your flip flips with your toes to keep them on which in time makes your toes bend and become unstraight. I had 10 broken toes so it took me a year to learn to walk again. The insoles are called Orthotics and no they are not usually covered under medical insurance. Shame as they are pretty expensive, I cant say they were very comfortable either, they gave me back ache good luck
