Hi. DH and I are still trying to find a dining room table and sofa and really struggling. We have been to the large chains in the malls and also to Pan, but have not found anything that we really like that is not ridiculously expensive.

Being new to Dubai, I am sure that there are lots of shops that we don't know about yet and I wondered if you ladies could suggest some different places that we could try please.

Also try 2XL in Mirdif, they usually have some nice furniture. I've bought several items and all are good quality.

Have you found DragonMart yet? We were there at the weekend and saw some lovely furniture. There is also Q in Dubai Mall they are really nice. But as everyone says, Dubizzle. Also look on the supermarket boards for house clearances, they can be pretty good as well. Welcome to Dubai :).

We got a great sofa and chair from Freedom furniture in Mirdif, it was in the sale and 50% off they had some nice stuff in which was not 'Dubai glitzy'. I seem to recall someone saying something about a place in Al Quoz which was really good ... will have a hunt on the board just now (sure beats doing the ironing!) There is The One at the Dubai OUtlet Mall i got my sofa there and it was sooo much cheaper than in the Dubai store. There is also a Luckys near the national paints roundabout in Sharjah. It is supposed to be dirt cheap and does the Marina furniture. They used to stain furniture to match your other stuff They do have a website.. It isnt great but there is a location map on it

I have not been there yet, but on my way this weekend to check it out - Options furniture and Atrium furniture in Karama. Maybe the ladies on EW can give us advise about these places. We're looking for a coffee table, bar and small recliner sofa as well as a sofa bed. Any advise ladies?

Home R Us, Home Centre, Marlin Furniture, Ikea, are all about the average prices. If you really don't want to spend too much how about looking on Dubizzle for what you want, maybe pick up a nice item for a bargain price.

I like Marina (MOE or Um Suquiem Street) although they aren;t the cheapest. There is a shop called Pinkys opposite the American School in al Barsha which does similar stuff cheaper. I had the same issue with a sofa though (filling a huge Dubai villas with my UK furniture was a bit of a challenge) so I posted on this board and someone suggested Dubizzle. It took a bit longer as I was very specific as to what I wanted but within 4 weeks managed to find the perfect one (bizarrely it had been bought from good old John Lewis!) which cost me 1500 dhs and was a 10,500 saving on the one I'd initially seen in Marina!
