Maybe as an alternative you could hire someone in the US to help out for the period you are there? Then you won't be paying air tickets, visa ect etc and you wouldn't have to worry about her absconding. This is what I am going to do next summer when I go to the UK. Just a thought.

Anyone has experience with this? (Philippina nanny) edited by Sanzeveria on 21/11/2011 I would be a little careful about taking your nanny abroad. My friend took her helper back to the UK and day 3 she ran away. She was with the family for just under 4 years in Dubai and the kids loved her and she loved them. she was paid very well and had no complaints about living standard or salary. If you do a search on here you will find lots of posts on the subject of helpers taken abroad on holidays to assist with the kids and they have run away . I appreciate you may trust her with your children and in your home but when they are in a western country, the temptation to abscond is great. They also have a huge support network so will be well looked aftered and safe. I dont mean to put you off but its something to think about.

I have not done this myself but friends have. You have to register an employment contract for the 2 months she will be in the US. The US embassy has a well-defined procedure available I think on its website
