My 'washable' loose sofa cover has shrunk in the wash! Any ideas how I can stretch it or do I have to accept defeat? I cannot get it over the frame of the sofaat all! Help!!!!

Thanks for the replies. I will wet them again and try putting them on damp. I had ironed them but only very cool iron and gently.

I have my suite cleaned professionally and the guy uses a wet method which means that we can't use the furniture until it dries. Never had a problem providing the room is well ventilated. :)

Did you let the covers dry? I always put mine back on straight from the machine. I think they stretch easier when wet. If this is the case maybe re wet them and try to stretch them back on. edited by plum2 on 19/07/2013 Wouldnt that make them smell a little funny though? I thought the same :-) Anyway with kids around if I leave a wet cover on the sofa the result won't be good. I always wash my cream very heavy cotton sofa covers in hit water etc and put back on sofa and cushions while wet (straight from machine). I then put cushions etc outside on drying rack. I have no smell, no mould etc and no problems with shrinkage. I wash it probably once a month as I have pets and an 8 year old DD
