For the first bit of weaning you cant beat a plastic chair that can be hosed of in the shower! Then once they get better at eating (do they ever? LOL) then stokke all the way. My 6 year old and my soon 4 year old still use their stokkes daily, so although expensive they are value for money when you look at how much use you get out of them.
Hi LinaS,
Unless TDB wants both your Stokke baby chairs, I would love to have one of them as our plastic high chair just broke and we were looking to try out a wooden one this time around -- especially one which can be used at the table with us. ;). I can be reached at thuycita11 at yahoo dot com. Thanks so much in advance.
Thuycita, I am only giving away two baby sets, not two baby chairs. Sorry. The Stokke chairs are still being used daily in our house. We love them.

You can get a cushion for Stokke: www.stokke.com/highchair/tripp-trapp/accessories-range/cushion.aspx
BTW, I have two Stokke baby sets in mahogany I am happy to give away for free. Both are the old model, i.e. wooden. The new plastic ones seem much easier to use than these wooden ones but once you have put the chair together it does not really matter. I also have a Stokke highchair cushion used by one child that I can give away. It is designed for the new model but I was able to fit it to the old baby set as well. I could not find the pattern online anymore but has a white background and predominantly red animals on it.
I've used the Antilop with all three of my kids but without the tray as its the right hight to pull up to the table so babies are part of the whole family dining experience. The best thing about it is that it's easy to clean! I find the bar on the stokke really hard to take on and off.
We did have the Antilop, a quick push to the front of it quickly takes the tray off - obviously with baby out!
We then moved on to a plastic booster seat and then the Stokke Handysit. I am about to put the Handysit onto classifieds.
I have the fisher price space saver. Its not available here, I brought it back from the states. We already had a 6 seat dining set so I didn't want another chair in the way. I can't say enough good things about it. I started ds in it when he was 6 months and I loved how it had a recline, made for feeding him his cereal easier. He's now 19 months and we're still using it. It's very easy to maintain and clean. : http://m.fisher-price.com/en_US/m/brands/babygear/products/52492
TDB why do you need to take the tray on and off? i have it and i just put my DS in it with the tray on- the only times it comes off is we have had a particular messy dinner and it needs cleaning underneath.
most restuaranst use the IKEA one too so its easy to feed your little one out and about as they are used to it.
When mine was little someone gave me this one as a gift because we travelled a lot -- and from that day it was the ONLY one we used, at home or on the road:

Easy to use, to clean, to move. And turns into a great booster once they outgrow the need for a try. Can also be used on the floor.
Not a traditional high chair but does the job and then some!
I know they're a bit more pricey, but we got the Stokke and absolutely love it. There's no tray, he sits right up at the table and the chair will adjust as he grows. Plus they just look nice.
