Ladies, a question. Does anyone have any information in relation to the limit of people that may reside in a single apartment. I have heard there is a law however maybe it is something that is only specifically stated in certain rental agreements. Anyone have any info? Thanks

there are no written rules for this. None that I have seen or know of. Officially you cant sublet but lots of people sublet and share to save cost. I have seen/know of families sharing villas and apartments as well as singles sharing rooms. I remember last time i was shopping for cloth in Satwa I even saw bedspace available posts on walls :( with regards to labour camps and places with lots of people crammed in. I feel sorry for them and wish if they can have better living. All they are doing is saving cost and supporting their familes. There are people here who earn less than 600 AED a month :(

Overcrowding is a serious issue here and the Dubai Municipality take serious action on overcrowding .. 10,000 aed per person fine to the LL not sure what the fine is for the tenant but you can be evicted without notice as a general rule - studio - 1 person - unless your married :) 1 bed 1-2 persons 2 bed 2-4 persons 3 bed 4-6 persons its against the law to sub let

Even if there was such law, it`s obviously had never been reinforced. Maid`s company-provided accommodations are often like that. Just saying...

Say 10 people living in a one bedroom, i.e. treating it like a labour camp! Trust me, this happens more often than you know here, people crammed in like sardines! just curious as to whether it is 'preferred' if only 1-2 people living in a one bedroom or if a specific law. As we all know, people speak of laws and rules here but we rarely see them in writing! Any ideas people?

This depends on how many bedrooms the apartment has. They say 1 family per apartment, but it doesnt specify how many family members this is.....I guess most people would be logical and not cram 10 people into a 2 bedroom apartment.
