So, whereabouts in Cyprus are you, LT? We can invite ourselves to stay in Nicosia and Paphos any time, so just let me know? :) Anoygra...........halfway between Limassol and Paphos but up in the hills. Shout if you are on the island! Will do! Shouldn't think it will be yet awhile, but you never know! We want our friends to come here first, as we're likely to leave Dubai before they leave Cyprus!

If it's just finger food, then egg and cress/ cucumber/smoked salmon sandwiches, sausage rolls, mini Yorkshire puddings with rare roast beef and horseradish sauce/ devils or angels on horseback/ mini scones with strawberry jam and cream/small iced gingerbreads. For a more substantial spread, roast beef, chicken and ham pie, pork pie, smoked fish kedgeree, sherry trifle/Eton mess would all be traditional British dishes. Hunnnggryyyyy... Try to choose lots of things that can be prepared in advance. Then it is just a matter of tossing in sauces etc. Lasagne can be pre-prepared, coleslaws and salads. Curry can be cooked a day before. finger foods can be time consuming. vol au vants alwasy look pretty chopped chives sprinkled here and there, always make dishes look great go for pre- prepared and garnishes

Love english buffets, my parents ran a catering service back in the UK. From memory I remember the following were big requests: Platter of roast meats with separate buttered bread rolls and condiments. Savery rice Potato salad Anything salmon (salmon and cream cheese crackers / whole salmon / salmon mouse balls) Prawn cocktail Pasta salad Vol-au-vents Sausage rolls Cheese and pineapple 4 dip selection with veg crudites Maybe a hot dish like hotpot / potato hash / chilli. Have some rice/potatos/condiments on the side. Jelly and icecream Cupcakes Victoria sponge Jam roly poly I'll post if anymore come to mind!

There was a great thread on here a few months ago when a mum was looking for ideas for finger foods for national day. I had a look for it but couldn't find it. Maybe someone else who posted could find it for you?
