Am planning on ordering a couple of Kindles for Christmas and it looks like the best priced ones are from Amazon US, does anyone know the weight of them (I can't see on the Amazon website) so I can calculate the cost from US to DXB, or has anyone ordered one who could share the shipping costs. If it's really expensive I may buy the UK Amazon ones are bring them back with me.

I paid GBP 149 for my 3g wifi Kindle last October and had it delivered via SnS. Delivery charge was maybe AED120? Maybe less, I can't remember - but well worth it. I'm trying to find out for you now, it will be more as SnS charges have gone up recently.

Yes but you can get a 3 pin plug for the USB cable. My Apple plugs for the iPod and iPad for example allow the USB cable to be removed so then you can put in the Kindle charge lead - very handy and saves all that messing with different plugs. They sell them at Virgin although VERY pricy at 159dhs. You can get online though for much cheaper - they look like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mains-Charger-Adapter-3pin-plug/dp/B000WE4D70

I did order mine from the US, but cannot remember the shipping cost. Think it was pretty low, as the Kindle is pretty light. But, something else to keep in mind. Even though the charger is dual voltage (works for the US 110 - UK/UAE 220) the shape of the plug is different. So if you are buying for friends who go back to the UK for holidays, they might prefer the UK plug. I recently bought one for a friend in Qatar who is from UK, and I decided to go with the UK Kindle for this reason only. it might seem like a small thing, but when I'm visiting the US I generally don't have my laptop so I tend to charge the kindle via wall socket rather than USB charge.
