I always use the canned light evaporated milk when cream is called for in recipes. For the thickness of double cream, though, I heat the evaporated milk and melt in some light philly cream cheese.

If you use the full-fat laban you should be ok in a casserole. Labneh is really thick (almost like cream cheese). I also really like it for anything that calls for buttermilk....

In my opinion laban would be a bit too runny. You could use yoghurt instead.

I am making a casserole that needs double cream. Would laban work as a healthier option? I have never cooked with it. Thanks ladies for your help.
