I never think that assessment here in UAE is very hard. Its hard to find a school.

My child had his assessment. I was so worried because he has a speech delayed development. Even though I still brought him to our preferred school. After the assessment when the school staff sent back my child and told me that when he was asked the number and alphabet my child did not speak. I want to cry, it really depressed me. I may not sure if you have the same feeling like mine...

We had a horrible experience with JAPS. Our daughter was on the waiting list for 3 years, was called in for assessment, and was simply rejected. Just like that. They gave no explanation and the registrar Tanya said that they would not even give an explanation even if we asked them. How can you work in a school if that is how you treat children and parents? Our daughter is now at another school and is close to top of the class in most subjects I hope they returned your registration fee, I had the same experience with Horizon school, after threatening with Khda, they returned it. They didn't offer, and to be honest I was so upset I didn't even think to ask. They can keep it anyway, what goes around comes around

Madz.. I am sorry you had to experience that.I did too.. 3 times over.. And it left me with feelings I never really want to experience again.. I was angry/ sad/ upset/ emotional and a million other things all at once.. I am sure you know what I mean :) My son had speech delay and other needs which is why he is going to speech and occupational therapy... and he's doing great.. Take deep breaths and take one step at the time.. The right school will accept your child.. just keep trying and trust me when I say this.. He WILL get into to a great school

Hello! Thanks for all your reply. Currently, my son is having his speech therapy. He was assessed. On the report it was mentioned "Phonological Disorder." I hope everything will be fine, somehow. Still waiting to the result of the assessment. Fidgety nervous....

Hi, I can imagine what you are going through...I have been there as well. First of all, you should get a professional developmental assessment done for your child, just to be sure that there is nothing of major concern. It is better to mention the delay in the assessment form you have to submit to the school, so that they are aware of it. And if they do not accept your child, don't fret over it....your child deserves a place where he is welcome and accepted. And believe me, you will eventually find that place. we all want our children to have the best school, but sometimes these "flashy" and highly rated schools can have teachers with a lot of attitude...and your child might end up feeling ignored or "looked over".....so go with your instincts, and if a school does not give you good vibes, or the teachers seem cold and blunt, avoid that place for your kid. Even if it is very highly rated. Hope this helps you.

Yes, I have had this feeling several times before. You are not alone. The good news is that once your child passes the assessment, things generally get better.
