Hi Ladies. M&S ships to the UAE for 15 GBP and takes 10 - 14 days. Do you think it would be better if i order directly or open a shop & ship account (which i still cannot understand despite reading many threads over here).
What do you think?

Thank you.

I wanted to order some products from Bobbi Brown in the US so used the online chat facility with S&S for clarification. I was told they wouldn't carry cream eyeshadows or even mascara :( I guess it's luck of the draw whether they will carry certain items but after being told that, I'm not going to risk it.

Yes i opened a SnS account and paid the $45. However, i did not receive any unique number (account number) yet. I don't know if it takes that long. I was about to place the order with my full name only then i went back to the FAQ and found out about the number. Still waiting. Call them, it took about two minutes for me to get mine when I registered, I seem to remember.

I always use S&S for my skincare products and never had a problem. Had about 4 deliveries so far. It is creams though, not liquids or shampoo etc Is cream not considered a liquid? Well it is thick and in a jar so I guess not.

S&S cant be used for things like skincare can it? What would happen if you risked it and tried to get something here? It would end up lost and money wasted? Good question. I want some skincare products from Amazon. My creams will certainly be running out within a few months and I refuse to pay double the price for each item here!! Sadly D-J I dont think we'll have much luck with s&s either =(

D-J, have you paid for and opened an account with Shop & Ship? To use S&S you [u'>must[/u'> have opened an account with them. If you have, you will have been given a unique address in the UK and another in the US (maybe China now too). The address you enter will be as mogindubai has put; the Account # is the part that is unique to you. Their system will know that your account number is for you only and will know to send all packages to an address in the UAE that you specified when you opened the account (can be changed at a later date). edited by Sanddy_Dogg on 27/07/2012

I recently ordered some items from one retailer through SnS and another directly with "free international shipping". The SnS order arrived promptly within a matter of days and I was able to track its entire progress. The "direct" delivery still has not arrived after 2 weeks and I've just been informed that I should "expect" an extra 11 day wait due to the Olympics! (ordering from the UK). Also - I cannot track it, just been told it's been "shipped" but no further info. SnS messages you the entire time - eg your shipment is getting on a plane tonight, your shipment is with Aramex etc. SnS is so easy and the additional charges are really not much at all - I paid 73aed for 6 items of clothing. I will avoid ordering directly in future when international shipping is involved. Actually i got this reply from M&S yesterday: Thanks for your email about placing an order for delivery to the United Arab Emirates. At this time we don't have an online delivery service to the UAE. For an order to be delivered to your home address it would need to be placed [u'>in person[/u'> in one of our participating UK stores. Are u sure you'll get your items? :)

UAE is listed as a country they deliver to, but it is not in the drop-down list when choosing the international delivery address. SnS it is.

What do you not understand about shop'n'ship? They assign you a UK address which then automatically gets shipped here. is it your own UK address? will goods go to your place? am i sounding silly? :) its basically a PO Box in their warehouse. Pretty much. It gets delivered to Aramex House in Slough (to your unique number)

They assign you an address in the UK (think P.O Box). M&S deliver your order to it, then S&S collect it and send it to you in Dubai.

You have to order in store though dont you? ( In the UK i mean) i dont think you can order online and have it shipped here unless you use SnS You could order from a "participating UK store" to get it delivered internationally without SnS, i guess http://www.marksandspencer.com/International-Delivery/b/183243031
