Hey ladies, My name is Zaineb al Hassani, and I am a health reporter at The National. I would be interested to hear what you think about the availability of the flu vaccine in the UAE, and if people are aware of its importance. JulesLC - would you mind putting me in touch with your doctor? What is her name and where does she work? Thanks! Please contact me on [email protected] and/or 055-669-6190.

i just had it, my doc said that last year was a light flu year, so this year is predicted to be a bad one (it goes in alternate years according to her). i know it doesnt protect against all viruses, but figure if it can help at all then its worth it! being a working mum with 2 LO at nursery, am surrounded by opportunities to get infected!!

Back home they only prescribe them for people who are more at risk at being sick from catching the flu. The elderly etc. I didnt think they were given to anyone who may catch it? Although i am surprised they havent invented one for the deadliest strain on earth MANFLU hehe

Flu shots aren't that great as the strains of flu change all the time, so how do they know if they're vaccinating against the right one? Not worth it IMHO.
